Perseverance is a state of mind, a personal decision that happens when something interests me. I do not decide in any case to be persevering, I only decide that I will reach a certain objective. The goal becomes a lighthouse that guides me but does not obsess me. It’s the way what happens to occupy my mind.
To be persevering implies to have a goal and on the other hand to forget about it to follow the path. The goal serves as a guide, but the important thing is what happens every day.
In one way there are always multiple events, some of us can move away from our desire, others push us more. Perhaps at this moment, perseverance comes into play. It is not really necessary to force us to be persevering. When we are really committed to a goal it is not necessary to persevere, we do not need an external force that pushes us, because our direction is in ourselves and our belief that what we want is something that will make us grow as people.
It happens sometimes that our desire dies, or it changes. All of this is also part of the process. In this case I wonder again because of the deep desire that pushed me to address a goal. If my initial objective does not already satisfy the deepest desire I abandon it, if you do but you have to modify some things, I modify them.
In any case I will tell you that perseverance does not exist. There is a commitment to oneself to grow, develop, enjoy and be happy. From this point of departure you do not have to strive to achieve anything, it is our inner strength that guides us.
If you want to know how to commit yourself I encourage you to abandon fear, not prudence and to understand how Machado “Walker is no way, it makes way to walk.”
